Ana Ivanovic has been announced as the top seed on Saturday at the Aegon Classic draw in Edgbaston, Birmingham.
The Serbian world No.12 will play either Mona Barthel of Germany or Croatia’s Ajla Tomljanovic in round two.
The top eight seeds have received a bye into the second round including last year’s champion, Daniela Hantuchova.
The rest of the draw was picked out by last year’s finalist, Donna Vekic, who is up against world No.80 Belinda Bencic.
After being matched up with the Swiss seventeen year old, Vekic said: “It will be a very interesting match, because we are the two youngest players in the top 100. I’m really looking forward to playing her, but I know it will be a tough match.”
If Vekic comes through the first round with a win, she will face seventh seed Hantuchova, in a second round replay of last year’s Aegon Classic final.
British No.2 Heather Watson will play a qualifier and fellow Briton, Johanna Konta drew world No.44 Kurumi Nara. If she beats the Japanese player and Watson wins her match, Konta and Watson will face off in the second round.
Naomi Broady is in a different quarter of the draw to her fellow countrywomen and will be facing World No.63 Barbara Zahlavova Strycova.
