Hampton into first ever WTA final at Eastbourne

Jamie Hampton battled past Caroline Wozniacki to reach her first ever WTA final which she will play against Elena Vesnina on Saturday at the Aegon International.

The American was a 6-7(8), 7-5, 6-3 winner over the Danish fifth seed in the first match of the day on Centre Court at Devonshire Park in a contest that lasted two hours and 41 minutes.

In the final, at 1pm on Saturday, the qualifier will take on Vesnina after the Russian demolished Yanina Wickmayer in a 6-2, 6-0 scoreline in just 51 minutes in their semi-final.

In the men's event the final will be between Feliciano Lopez and Gilles Simon, who also drew each other in round one of The Championships, Wimbledon, after they won their semi-finals on Friday.

The Spaniard was a 7-6(3), 6-1 winner over Croatia's Ivan Dodig whilst the French second seed knocked out Italian 2011 Aegon International winner Andreas Seppi in straight sets, taking it 6-4, 6-3.

Friday also saw the conclusion of the men's doubles event. British duo Jonny Marray & Colin Fleming finished as the runners-up after a three set defeat by top seeds Alexander Peya of Austria and Brazilian Bruno Soares, going down 10-8 in the match tie-break.

The men's final will follow the women's final onto Centre Court on Saturday afternoon. The women's doubles final between Nadia Petrova & Katarina Srebotnik and Monica Niculescu & Klara Zakopalova will follow the men's match onto court.
