Gordon Reid won his third doubles title of 2013 and the fourth ITF 1 Series doubles title of his career as he partnered Stephane Houdet to victory in Rotterdam on Friday evening.

Reid and Houdet took on Michael Jeremiasz of France and Ronald Vink of the Netherlands and in a tense opening set the Anglo-French duo moved 5-3 ahead. Although Jeremiasz and Vink forced a first set tiebreak, Houdet and Reid built a 5-2 cushion en route to taking the set.

A shift in momentum saw Houdet and Reid only manage to take the fourth game of the second set as Jeremiasz and Vink took the final into a match tiebreak.

Reid and Houdet took a commanding 5-1 lead in the match tie-break, but then had to come from 7-6 down before winning three points in succession to earn their first two match points. Although both opportunities disappeared, Reid and Houdet earned a third match point at 10-9 and finally extended their unbeaten sequence to five matches and two tournaments after sealing a 7-6(3), 1-6, (11-9) victory.

In their first tournament together last October Reid and Houdet won the US Open USTA Wheelchair Tennis Championships Super Series title.

Gordon Reid will bid for the men's doubles title on Friday evening at the 5th ABN Amro World Wheelchair Tennis Tournament in Rotterdam after bowing out in today's singles semi-finals.

British No. 1 Reid and Frenchman Stephane Houdet are bidding to maintain their unbeaten record in only their second tournament together as they take on Michael Jeremiasz of France and Ronald Vink of the Netherlands in the decisive round-robin doubles match, with both partnerships having won both of their first two matches this week at the ITF 1 Series tournament on the NEC Wheelchair Tennis Tour.

Reid secured one of the best wins of his career on Thursday when he beat world No. 2 Houdet 6-1, 6-4 in the men's singles quarter-finals, but despite making a good start to today's semi-final against world No. 3 Maikel Scheffers of the Netherlands, world No. 7 Reid eventually bowed out 4-6, 6-4, 7-5.

Gordon Reid secured one of the biggest wins of his career on Thursday when he reached the men's singles semi-finals in Rotterdam after beating world No. 2 Stephane Houdet of France. He later partnered Houdet to book a place in the men's doubles title decider.

Reid's 6-1, 6-4 victory over Houdet was the third of his career against a world No. 2 ranked player. The British No. 1 and world No. 7 will now play current world No. 3 Maikel Scheffers from the Netherlands, a player Reid beat twice in 2011.

The Scot, making his debut at the ITF 1 Series tournament, had taken Houdet to a final set tie-break at last month's Sydney International Open, but made a tremendous start in Rotterdam before sealing his his first win over Houdet in 11 attempts.

"I'm really pleased with my singles win against Stephane, to get my first win against him and do it in style is very important for me at the start of the year," said Reid. "I have made some changes to my training programme back home and I am already starting to feel the benefits and feeling good about my tennis."

Reid and Houdet maintained their unbeaten record in the men's doubles, securing their second win in successive days as they beat Belgium's Joachim Gerard and Stefan Olsson of Sweden 6-4, 6-2. Reid and Houdet will now play Michael Jeremiasz of France and Ronald Vink of the Netherlands in their decisive third round-robin match on Friday evening, with Jeremiasz and Vink also unbeaten after their first two matches in Rotterdam.

"We are going into the last round robin match knowing that whoever wins will take the title, so it means a lot tomorrow. Hopefully we can play well again and take down the title and stay unbeaten!"

Just two weeks after becoming the highest ranked British men's wheelchair tennis player ever, world No. 7 Gordon Reid makes his debut at the ITF 1 Series NEC Wheelchair Tennis Tour event that takes place alongside the ABN-AMRO World Tennis Tournament, where Reid's fellow Scot Andy Murray was champion in 2009.

Reid contests a draw featuring eight of the world's top ten ranked players for the second time since making his top eight debut in October 2012.

Reid's opposition will include two-time Paralympic champion and world No. 1 Shingo Kunieda of Japan, the recent Australian Open champion, who Reid finished runner-up to in his first Super Series final at the British Open last July, as well as world No. 2 and London 2012 silver medallist Stephane Houdet of France. They are the only two of the other seven players in the field that Reid does not have winning form against.

Gordon Reid has been drawn to meet his doubles partner and world No. 2 Stephane Houdet in Thursday's first round of the men's singles.

Reid and Houdet will play Shingo Kunieda of Japan and Maikel Schefferrs of the Netherlands in the first of three round-robin men's doubles matches on Wednesday evening in Rotterdam.
