British players ended the 12th Trofeo della Mole with two titles after Lucy Shuker finished runner-up in the women's singles.
World No. 10 and second seed Shuker, who partnered Dutchwoman Marjolein Buis to win the women's doubles, faced world No.6 Buis in the singles fnal and the Brit saved six set points in the opening set before top seed Buis took it on a tie-break en route to completing a 7-6(7), 6-0 victory.

Lucy Shuker and Alfie Hewett secured the women’s doubles and men’s doubles titles with their respective Dutch partners on the penultimate day of play in Turin, while Shuker also reached Saturday’s women’s singles final.
Shuker partnered Marjolein Buis to win the women’s doubles, the top seeds defeating Christine Schoenn of France and Dutchwoman Mieke van Chastelet, the third seeds, 6-1, 6-0, to secure their second doubles title together after winning the women’s doubles at the South African Open Super Series in 2013.
World No.10 and second seed Shuker defeated Italian third seed Marianna Lauro 6-2, 6-1 in her women’s singles semi-final earlier in the day and will now face world No.6 ranked top seed Buis in Saturday’s final.
Hewett, the world No.1 ranked junior and former ITF World Champion Ricky Molier completed a successful debut as a doubles partnership after upsetting the top seeds in the men’s doubles final. Second seeds Hewett and Molier swept past the all=Belgian pairing of Mike Denayer and Joachim Gerard 6-1, 6-0.
British fourth seed David Phillipson put up a strong challenge in the first set of his men’s singles semi-final against top seed and defending champion Gerard, but the world No. 5 went on to reach his second successive final in Turin 6-4, 6-0.

David Phillipson and Lucy Shuker moved into the men’s and women’s singles semi-finals as Alfie Hewett and Shuker and their respective partners reached the men’s and women’s doubles finals.
Phillipson earned his place in the last four of the men’s singles after his 6-1, 6-1 win over French eighth seed Lahcen Majdi. The fourth seed will now meet Belgian top seed and defending champion Joachim Gerard in the semi-finals for the second successive year.
Second seed Shuker dropped just three games in her women’s singles quarter-final against French fifth seed Emmanuelle Morch, eventually wrapping up a 6-2, 6-1 win to book a semi-final against Italian fourth seed Marianna Lauro.
Sixteen-year-old world No. 1 ranked junior Alfie Hewett earned praise from former world No. 1 and two-time Trofeo della Mole champion Maikel Scheffers after the Dutch second seed overcame the young British fifth seed 6-3, 6-1 in their quarter-final. However, from a results perspective there was better news for Hewett in the men’s doubles as he partnered Dutchman Ricky Molier to beat fourth seeds Martin Legner of Austria and Fabian Mazzei of Italy 6-4, 4-6, (10-6) in their semi-final. The second seeds will face Belgian top seeds Mike Denayer and Gerard in Friday’s final.
Shuker and her Dutch partner Marjolein Buis will face third seeds Christine Schoenn of France and Mieke van Chastelet of the Netherlands in the women’s doubles final after beating Morch and Spain’s Lola Ochoa, the fourth seeds, 6-0, 6-0 in their semi-final.

David Phillipson and Alfie Hewett both beat past world No. 1 players to reach the men’s singles quarter-finals, while Lucy Shuker moved into the women’s singles quarter-finals without dropping a game as all three Brits began their campaigns on the second day of action in Turin.
Fourth seed Phillipson overcame Dutch former three-time ITF World Champion Ricky Molier 6-3, 6-3 to earn his place in the last eighth against eighth seed Lahcen Majdi of France, while fifth seed Hewett defeated former two-time ITF World Champion Laurent Giammartini of France 6-3, 6-4. The world No. 1 junior will now meet second seed Maikel Scheffers, having partnered the Dutchman last week at the Austrian Open to win the men’s doubles.
Shuker opened her women’s singles challenge with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Denmark’s Louise Willersley-Olsen ahead of her quarter-final meeting with French fifth seed Emmanuelle Morch.
Hewett and Molier reached the men’s doubles semi-finals in Turin after beating Italy’s Antonio Moretto and Ivan Tratter 6-0, 6-1. The second seeds face Austria’s Martin Legner and Italy’s Fabian Mazzei in the last four.
Shuker and Dutchwoman Marjolein Buis will also play for a place in the women’s doubles final after the top seeds defeated the all-Danish partnership of Malene Olesen and Willersley-Olsen 6-0, 6-1 in their quarter-final. David Phillipson, Alfie Hewett and Lucy Shuker bid for honours at the 12th Trofeo della Mole a year on from Phillipson and fellow Brit Marc McCarroll reaching the men’s singles semi-finals in Turin.
World No.1 junior Hewett, McCarroll and Phillipson all reached the same men’s doubles semi-final in Turin in 2013, too, with Phillipson and Poland’s Tadeusz Kruszelnicki going on to reach the final before finishing runners-up.
British No.3 Phillipson and British No.4 Hewett are the fourth and fifth seeds for the men’s singles this year, while world No.10 and British No.2 Shuker is the second seed for the women’s singles. All thtee Brits have first round byes and will begin their simgles campaigns on the second day of play.
