Jonny Marray in men’s doubles second round

Former Wimbledon men’s doubles champion Jonny Marray has progressed into the second round at SW19 with Australian partner John-Patrick Smith.

Marray, who teamed up with Dane Freddie Neilsen in 2012 to claim the men’s doubles title at The All England Club, came past Andreas Siljestrom (SWE) & Igor Zelenay (SVK) 6-4, 7-5, 6-4.

The British/Australian duo, who join Jamie Murray & John Peers in round two, play 15th seeds Juan-Sebastian Cabal (COL) & Marcin Matkowski (POL) next.

Not to be for Heather Watson

British No.1 Heather Watson was defeated in the second round with a three-set defeat by German ninth seed Angelique Kerber on Centre Court at SW19 on Thursday.

Watson’s Wimbledon campaign ended with a 6-2, 5-7 6-1 in just under two hours.

Watson, 22, had been hoping to beat a top 10 player for the first time, and match her best effort at a Grand Slam by reaching the third round.

Men's Doubles

Ed Corrie & Dan Smethurst defeated

British duo Ed Corrie & Dan Smethurst were defeated in round one of the men’s doubles on Thursday at Wimbledon.

Corrie & Smethurst were beaten 6-4, 7-6(4), 7-6(2) by former Wimbledon doubles champion Freddie Neilsen & Johan Brunstrom of Sweden.

Kyle Edmund & Sergiy Stakhovsky miss out

Kyle Edmund & Ukrainian partner Sergiy Stakhovsky were defeated 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 in the opening round of the men’s doubles by Spain’s Roberto Bautista Agut Igor Sijsling of the Netherlands.

Colin Fleming & Ross Hutchins go down in four

Colin Fleming & Ross Hutchins took a set off 16th seeds Pablo Cuevas (URU) & David Marrero (ESP) in their Wimbledon round one match but went down in four 6-3, 4-6, 6-3, 7-6(2).

"It's the best tournament in the world." Hutchins said after the match. "It's what you want to perform well in. We played okay, but didn't perform to our absolute best. Got outplayed a little bit today. It was a tight match, but credit to them. They played better than us and deserved to win. Unfortunately couldn't come through, but it felt amazing."

Dominic Inglot & Treat Huey shock exit

10th seeds and Aegon International champions Dominic Inglot & Treat Huey went out in the opening round at SW19 to Mate Pavic (CRO) & Andre Sa (BRA) 6-4, 7-6(5), 6-3.

Women's Doubles

Jocelyn Rae & Anna Smith take Stosur & Pennetta the distance

Wild cards Jocelyn Rae & Anna Smith went a set up on two former No.1 doubles players; Flavia Pennetta & Samantha Stosur ,however it was the Italian/Australian duo who took the win 3-6, 7-5, 6-3.

Naomi Broady & Eleni Daniilidou v Raquel Kops-Jones & Abigail Spears: Play suspended

Play has been suspended due to fading light and poor weather between Naomi Broady & Eleni Daniilidou (GRE) and American duo Raquel Kops-Jones & Abigail Spears on Court 10. Play will resume on Friday with Broady & Daniilidou leading 6-5 in the opening set.
