Naomi Broady & Neal Skupski into mixed doubles quarter-finals
Naomi Broady & Neal Skupski’s Wimbledon campaign continued after a dramatic third round encounter against Florin Mergea (ROU) & Elina Svitolina (UKR) on Thursday.
It took 11 match points before the British wild card pair came through 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 in two hours and two minutes on the No.1 Court.
The duo play Aisam Qureshi & Vera Dushevina next.
Speaking after the match Skupski commented: “We just thought to take one point at a time and we got there in the end.
We’re in the quarter-finals now which is unbelievable, well just take it one step at a time.”
Jamie Murray & Casey Dellacqua in final eight
Jamie Murray and Australian partner Casey Dellacqua also moved into the final eight of the mixed doubles as they came past sixth seeds Horia Tecau (ROU) & Sania Mirza (IND) 7-5, 6-3.
Dellacqua said after the win: “We’ve had some good support so I’ll take that any day!”
Murray & Dellacqua play Max Mirnyi & Hao-Ching Chan next.
Juniors
British junior Joshua Sapwell is through to the quarter-finals of the boys' singles after a 6-1, 6-3 win over Pedro Iamachkine. Sapwell plays French eighth seed Johan Sebastien Tatlot in the final eight.
