Berkshire Mens County Team were cruelly relegated from Division 3 despite a great team effort after three agonisingly close 5-4 defeats.
The bad luck started even before the event began when Andy Hamer obtained an injury while knocking up at the 02 event the evening before the team left which left him sidelined for the whole weekend. Despite this set back there were still high hopes of maintaining the Division 3 status.
The first day against Hampshire proved to be very close and the team only narrowly lost 5-4, which ultimately proved to be a familiar score for the weekend with all the matches ending up the same scoreline. On the final day the match against Bucks saw both teams fighting for survival. The match went all the way to the final doubles match and tie break, which was narrowly lost 10-8 with both Rob Green & Richard Downs putting up a great fight.
All the team played very well with Marcus Willis leading the way and showing why he is ranked just over 600 in the world, winning all his matches very impressively.
The Berkshire Team was Marcus Willis, Rob Green, Richard Downs, Tim Davis, Greg Saffery, Simon Baker, Keiran Muir and new debutee Ben Smith.
