In the men’s singles event debutant Pauffley, ranked 635 in the world, defeated 2012 champion Josh Goodall.
Despite racing into a 4-1 lead in the second set, Goodall demonstrated his fighting spirit and saved three break points to claw his way back to 4-3 but it was not enough as Pauffley regained his composure to win the next three games and finish a 6-4, 6-3 winner.
Pauffley said: “This victory really helps me for the start of next year. I’ve been out injured for a couple of months, so the matches, together with the prize money, will certainly help with traveling to pro events abroad.”
