Get Berkshire Active, the County Sports Partnership for Berkshire is running a ‘Get Berkshire Active Week’ from the 24th of May to 1st of June (half-term) and are inviting you to get involved.
What is Get Berkshire Active Week?
The aim of Get Berkshire Active week is to provide hundreds of sport and physical activity opportunities across the whole county, for all ages, providing Berkshire residents with the opportunity to kick start a more active lifestyle or to try something new. Like other sports weeks that have been run in the past we would like as many free and open sport/physical activity opportunities to be taking place during this week as possible. A countywide Sports Week will allow for a coordinated approach between districts, creating a greater impact – and we need your help please.
How to get involved…..
To get involved in Get Berkshire Active Week please register at www.getberkshireactive.org/register. We would like to encourage clubs to register as soon as possible so you can benefit fully from the marketing campaign. Once you have completed this registration form Get Berkshire Active will email you to confirm you have the appropriate admin rights to allow you to add details about your club/organisation and any sessions you run. Sessions that feature as part of this week can be your existing sessions that you open up to newcomers or you may like to run a dedicated ‘Get Berkshire Active week’ session, tailored specifically to complete beginners in your sport. Please note that the club/organisation is liable for any sessions they add to the activity finder.
What’s in it for you…..
This is a great opportunity for you to increase membership and reach a completely new market. You will benefit from a marketing campaign provided by us. There is no fee for you to be involved.
Promoting Get Berkshire Active Week
Get Berkshire Active will coordinate the distribution of postcards in the lead up to Get Berkshire Active Week which will signpost individuals to the website to find out details of sessions running during this period. We will circulate these widely across the county.
Get Berkshire Active will also make a downloadable empty belly poster and generic poster available for clubs and activity providers to use in their own local area to promote sessions. Your support with this will be a valuable part of a high profile campaign which will be underpinned by the support of local authorities and our wider partner network.
Whilst Get Berkshire Active cannot guarantee that every club involved will gain new members, similar campaigns have demonstrated that the more clubs do locally to push their own sessions, the more impact is seen in return. Therefore, we do expect clubs to play a role in promoting their own sessions, please use the following advice to plan your Get Berkshire Active week session/s;
- To be a part of GBA Week - There needs to be a genuine, whole club engagement in the campaign, commitment and enthusiasm is essential.
- To promote your GBA week session/s - Think about all the locations in your local community individuals might use to find out about upcoming events; libraries, supermarkets, local churches etc – and ask these outlets to display a poster on your behalf.
- On the day - Make sure you have an identified person to welcome every ‘newcomer, it might be worth then ‘buddying’ them up with an existing member to support them through the session.
If you have any questions regarding GBA week please don’t hesitate to get in touch via info@getberkshireactive.org or 01628 472851.
Yours Faithfully
The Get Berkshire Active Team
