At the recent 12u Inter-County event played at Bisham Abbey, Berkshire had just 3 players whilst most of the other bigger Counties had 4 or 5 man squads.
However undaunted the local youngsters put up a great performance drawing 2 all on Saturday with very strong Sussex & Kent teams. Piers Foley won both of his singles and the doubles with Seb Harris whilst Harris & the 3rd member Lewis Brown fought gallantly in their own singles matches but were ultimately just beaten.
Berkshire were therefore fighting for the 5th/6th play-off match on Sunday against Dorset. Piers got the ball rolling with yet another emphatic victory whist Lewis-against a much higher ranked player-just fell short. However Seb then won a close 3 setter to put Berkshire 2-1 up before another fine doubles win gave them a deserved 3-1 victory.
By its very nature tennis is often a very selfish sport however this team competition was a great advert for the game with the Berkshire trio supporting each other from first to last.
