Jo-Anne Dowling, the LTA Tennis Development Manager for Berkshire and Oxfordshire presented the nationally recognised clubmark award to Latika Junior Tennis Club on Saturday 17th July. The award was proudly received by some of the younger members, pictured here with Head Coach, Matt Reid, his team of coaches, and Denise Walker, the club's chairperson.
Jo-Anne said, “I would like to congratulate the volunteers of Latika Junior Tennis club for all their hard work in achieving Clubmark status. This award demonstrates the club’s commitment to delivering a quality junior tennis programme and operating in line with best practise. It was great to visit on a Saturday morning and see the club in full swing! I was particularly impressed by Matt Reid’s coaching team, which included Level 1 & 2 coaches & tennis leaders helping out with the Red and Orange groups to ensure each player was hitting lots of balls and having lots of fun. Latika is a great asset to the local community and I wish them every success in the future.”
Latika is a thriving junior tennis club, based at the Farley Wood Centre in Binfield. The club runs coaching sessions for 5 to 18 year olds all year round on Saturday mornings and also on Wednesday evenings during term time. The membership numbers are fast approaching 200.
