Talent ID Update Berkshire By Steve Worsley

Tuesday, June 08, 2010

I am delighted to report that Berkshire was represented in both the Regional and National Talent Identification days by some of our best young players.

After a good showing at our County Talent ID, players were selected to go through to Regional talent ID which includes the most promising talent from across the South East region (Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Middlesex, Surrey, Sussex, Kent). The following Berkshire players attended Regional talent ID;

Rachel Barnett from Caversham LTC, coached by Ricky Dennis and Angus Whittam from Dukes Wood TC and Bisham Win, coached by Tom Dean

Both players did very well on the day as they were put through their paces in a series of physical and tennis challenges and represented Berkshire as a county in a very positive light.

Further to this, Angus Whittam was selected to go through to National Talent ID which took place at the National Tennis Centre at Roehampton. Angus was selected as one of the most promising players in his age group (2002) in the country and I can report that he did exceptionally well on the day so huge credit goes to him and the support around him.

Congratulations to Rachel and Angus and I hope we can keep improving as a county in being competitive across our region and ultimately the country.

The next round of County Talent ID is in September please contact me if you have any questions.
