Berkshire tennis competed in the annual Lionel Cox 2016 event last weekend, seeing and playing some of the top players in the country compete over 25 clay and Astro courts, held at the Queenwood Girls School in Hertfordshire.
Across the U9, U10 and U12 age groups the top 3 boys and girls in our county brought home some great results against 9 other strong counties.
Special congratulations goes out to our U9 girls team which consisted of Dina Lipovski, Lily Doherty and Steffi Swanson who came 2nd place overall narrowly losing to Hertfordshire in the final. Our U12 girls also managed to come 4th place in a strong field of players.
The fantastic teamwork and atmosphere that was created in this event made the weekend even more enjoyable, with many parents being able to just sit back and enjoy watching the high standard of play, whilst the team captains could support the players mentally and tactically where necessary.
Overall it was a great weekend for all involved with thanks for Sarah Tricks and Chris Mann the event referees, who managed to run a smooth competition which had over 180 players competing against each other over just 2 days.
Well done to all the 18 Berkshire juniors who were involved.
