With continuing dry weather at Bisham the Berkshire Junior Closed Closed was completed on time Saturday. Once again a number of players featured in 2 or in some cases 3 finals.
Of these Hannah Brett & George Hedley both won 2 singles finals,Hannah in the girls 14u & 16u whilst George picked up the 16u & 18u titles as well as 18u doubles with fellow Maidenhead player Seb Harris.
It was therefore appropriate that Hannah & George were both given the Manning Davenport Award for their successful achievements in 2011-the Award is a funding bequeath to assist with coaching & junior player progess.
Of the other dual finalists Megan Forster won the 12u girls singles, Piers Foley the 14U boys & George Irwin the 21U boys.
One feature of this year's event was the great help of the recently qualified young Tournament Organisers throughout the week-Emily Goldsmith,Hayley Randall,Harry Newdick & Sam Woodhall-as well as the regulars-Referee Alan Holden & Assistant Referee Liz Fidler.

8U Mixed event - Alexander Okonkwo was the winner and the
runner up was Dan Ormond, 3rd - Elkan Dillon and 4th Sam Rubenstein. In the round robins 3 of the box winners had close matches all against the 3rd player in their box.Sam Rubenstein only just made it past James Meyrick 13-11. As did Elkan Dillon against James Starkey 12-10. And Dan Ormond against Zain Ikram 10-8. In semi the line up was Sam Rubenstein v Dan Ormond and Alexander Okonkwo v Elkan Dillon. Both Dan and Alexander recored 10-5 wins. The Final Dan v Alexander- both played well - Alexander coming out the winner 10-5.
9U Events: the Girls Winner was Ella Drake and Runner up was Annabelle Davies. Jemma Lancaster was 3rd and Annabel Hindley 4th. The girls played initial matches in round robins - top 2 went to Final stage. Ella Drake was too strong against Annabel Hindley and then Annabelle Davis in the Final. Jemma Lancaster did well to take Annabelle to 3 tiebreaks.
The boys winner was Angus Whittam who beat Freddie Salmon in the Final. 7/2 9/7. 3rd place went to Nicholas Rowe with Jonathan Trist 4th overall.
