Caversham LTC have become the 500th Tennis Club nationally to gain Clubmark status. This recognises the vibrant environment that has been created at the Club with fantastic opportunities to play Tennis for all ages, abilities and aspirations. They are one of six Clubs within Berkshire who have been recognised as such and also marked a milestone nationally.
Caversham Lawn Tennis Club was founded in 1919 and is the largest
Tennis Club in Reading. Boasting nine courts in a relaxed setting, including two covered courts in the winter, the club provides a great environment in which to play tennis. Caversham provides a comprehensive coaching programme, both on an individual and group basis, in association with GDT with a full programme of tournaments and social events throughout the year ensuring that there is always something happening at the Club.
Sean Sweet, Club Chairman, commented "I am thrilled that Caversham LTC has become the 500th Club to achieve Clubmark. Clubmark is especially important to clubs run by committees because Clubmark enables continuity as personnel change. Huge credit must go to our Head Coach, Ricky Dennis, for the effort he put into pulling all the information together and making it happen. Clubmark will certainly help us to operate in the future as we grow in the next decade".
John Golding, Tennis Development Manager for Oxfordshire & Berkshire, also added "It is fantastic that Caversham have completed Clubmark and they are already feeling the benefits of going through the process. Even better that they were the Club that reached the landmark of 500 across the Country. I look forward to even more Berkshire Clubs being recognised in this way and hopefully someone from within the County will make it 1000."
