Local Academy in bid to find next Warrington Tennis Ace

Wednesday, June 26, 2013

Ahead of the talent spotting day Birchwood will take a Tennis Roadshow to 15 schools across the region to encourage local children to pick up a racket at their local tennis club.

LiveWire academy will aim to:

  • Provide the very best coaching and performance training to young players across Warrington
  • Give beginners the perfect start to tennis in a structured, social environment in a six-week Activate programme
  • Maximise player potential through a structured Aspire programme, involving individual and group sessions, strength and conditioning, goal setting and tournament planning

Warrington’s Tennis Development Officer John Whitehall said: “I’m thrilled that Birchwood have been able to mark their 25th birthday with the launch of an academy which will massively benefit the whole Warrington region.

“Local kids have a great opportunity to come along on the 7th July to pick up a racket and have a go at tennis and I’m sure we will find some hidden gems in Warrington.

“It’s a real boost to grass-roots tennis in the area and another step forward made by Birchwood Leisure in their support of local tennis.”
