Senior Championships

There were several Cheshire success stories in the British Open Seniors Championships held last week at Dudley.

  • Seb Jackson did really well to reach the singles final, only to finish as runner up in the 40 & Over age group. He did, however, triumph in the 35 & over doubles with Andy Burgoyne (Kent).
  • John Hilton had quite a week. Unseeded in the singles he defeated the 6th, 3rd and 1st seeds, but then lost to the No.2 seed in a marathon final in the 65 & over singles. He still claimed a British title winning the 65 & over doubles with Richard Tutt (Leicestershire).
  • Peter Ellison continues to perform at a consistently high level in the 80 & over age group.  He went one better than last year, and became the singles champion. Peter also reached the doubles final only to finish runner up with Tom Baron (Lancashire).

Stuart Gould playing with Peter Boshier Jones (Surrey) in the 75 & over doubles, started with a great win defeating the number 1 seeds, and                   they went onto reach the final. Unfortunately they lost to the number 2 seeds, but Stuart can justifiably be proud of this achievement.
