AWARDS GIVEN FOR OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTION TO TENNIS IN CHESHIRE

Wednesday, November 11, 2015

Cheshire County LTA is delighted to announce the winners who were honoured at the recent Presentation Evening where almost 200 people enjoyed a celebration of tennis in Cheshire. We are very grateful to Martin Corrie, LTA Deputy President and to Mrs Diane Tod, our Honorary Life Patron for giving up their valuable time to spend the evening with us.

Receiving their awards at the ceremony on 12th October at The Pavilion Suite, Chester Racecourse, the winners ranged from primary age to 90 years of age and came from the whole county of Cheshire.

Sue Britton, Secretary of Glan Aber LTC and winner of Club of the Year award, commented: “We are delighted to have won this award after so much hard work this year. We have developed a community outreach programme and have also worked with the local council to upgrade the public courts. We operate Pay and Play sessions so there’s so much opportunity for everyone to play tennis here!” Sue was also recognised personally for her contribution to the club, being Club Secretary for 15 years and receiving the Unsung Hero Award. On a great night for the club, Head Coach Jo Tratoris was also nominated for Development Coach of the Year but was narrowly beaten by Sue Davies of Heswall LTC.

Bob Churchill-Davies, President of Cheshire County LTA commented: “The standard of the entries was really high and we’d like to congratulate all of the winners for their achievement. The judges had a tough job to select winners due to the overwhelming contribution made at the tennis venues across the county. It is heartening to award those who put so much effort behind offering great tennis opportunities for all in Cheshire.”
