Heswall LTC Sport Relief Spectacular

How do you get nearly five hundred people on 6 tennis courts all playing tennis at the same time?  The answer is simple: try to break a Guinness World Record for the number of people bouncing a ball on the racket in a Bouncethon and have an enthusiastic coach to orchestrate it.

This is what happened at Heswall LTC on Friday evening on Sport Relief weekend and although the world record of 768 held by China was not broken, the event raised an impressive sum for the charity.  Sue Davies targeted the local primary schools who sent many of their pupils to swell the numbers.  She had hoped to persuade 800 to attend but was still thrilled to see so many adults and children in total concentration bouncing their balls for 30 seconds.  They may not have broken the record but the event raised the profile of tennis, showed off the facilities at the club and raised much money for Sport Relief.  All in all a great success.
