Beacon Status Awarded to Penzance Tennis Club

Thursday, April 21, 2011

Penzance Tennis Club as part of the Beacon Status launch held a Junior fun day on the 15th April and it was a huge success. Martin Coates Tennis Manager organized the fun day to introduce more local juniors to tennis. Local schools helped by promoting and advertising this free event and the result was over 100 youngsters, turning up and having a go at tennis.

Penzance is already well known for encouraging juniors into Tennis and  being awarded Beacon Status was a recognition of its high quality, affordable community tennis programme. Only one other club in Cornwall has achieved  this status , which recognises Penzance having one of the best coaching programmes in the County at the moment.

Ann Williams and Sue Eames from LTA Cornwall came down to the club to present the award and were delighted to recognise the excellent work Penzance Tennis Club is currently doing.

Martin Coates said ‘ We have a great team at Penzance and we are all extremely enthusiastic and dedicated to delivering a quality programme for everyone as well as offering free and affordable tennis to the wider community.
