The TEAM Flybe squad started the year as they mean to go on, Train Hard, Play Hard.
Team Flybe is an opportunity for the counties strongest, most committed players to reap the support from Flybe. Flybe provide these players with regular training camps with Lucie Ahl, trips home and away. These trips provide a great understanding from the players of what life is like being a tennis player. Hopefully this will give young players the energy and passion to really strive to achieve.
Players from across Devon and Cornwall are selected to be part of TEAM Flybe and starting the year off.
Red Team 8yrs and under camp – Finley Hill(Exeter), Nathan Lee(Exwick), Joe Chappell(Truro), Chris Denton(Bodmin) and Luis Gomez(Penryn) Noah Rider and Ashley Morris were unable to attend due to illness.
Orange Team 9yrs and under – Matthew Rutter(Exeter) Daniel Mountford(Exeter) Jed Platts(Exeter) Louis Davey(Tarka) Archie Graham(Penryn) and Emily Syms (Teignmouth)
Green Team 10yrs – Taylor Ingham Hill and Morgan Hill of Teignmouth, Jowan Rawson (LevertonWilliams) and Albert Evans of Launceston
Yellow Team 11yrs – Will Daniell(Newquay) Aimee Polyblank(Penzance and LevertonWilliams) Sam Hopper (Ivybridge) and Roo Woodleigh Smith(Torquay)
The Team will develop throughout the year as players change age groups, players develop at different stages and that we have enough time to fit all the players.
With the support of TEAM Flybe last year we held 6 camps per age group, 2 trips away this supporting their coaching day to day programme achieved some great results. 6 players competing at National events, 2 players winning National events. 6 players Nationally recognised by the LTA.
Many of these TEAM Flybe players attended the first stage of Flybe sponsorship in mini master finals. The mini master finals will happen 23/24 March at South Devon Tennis Centre.
