Redruth Tennis Club's Chris Peters had a successful time last week at the Plymouth Junior Open Tennis Tournament. In the U18 age group Chris reached the quarter final to face No 1 seed Ben Eyre-Robbins, who with a 6.2 rating is some 4 rating places higher. However a combination of hard hitting topspin and patient play saw Chris take this match 7-5 6-3 to reach the semi-final. This was an all Cornish affair when the opponent was Alex Wright of the Dragon Performance Centre in Bodmin. The recent improvement in the weather meant that it was very hot for the players but Chris's heavy forehands eventually proved telling, coming out on top 6-4 6-3.
Friday's final saw Chris up against another Devon opponent in Chris Mowbray. Showing no signs of fatigue from the previous two days Chris again produced some superb serving and attacking tennis to take the title by a convincing 6-2 6-2 scoreline."
