Located in a semi-rural setting Redruth Tennis Club was founded in 1927. The club boasts a keen adult membership and continues to grow a healthy junior programme with the commitment of Head Pro, Ryan Fern and his dedicated team of coaches. The club is managed by a small group of hard working volunteers who keep themselves busy with running all aspects of the club. Achieveing Clubmark was a priority for the Club in 2009 and part of the longer term plan to enhance the current facility of 6 courts. In order to provide a year round coaching programme and allow members to compete throughout the winter the club hopes to secure funds to floodlight 2 courts in the future.
Mark Hollow (Chairman) said, "working towards and achieving Clubmark has energised the club. Ir has brought a recognised structure ans award to the club which will help us achieve our aims to improve facilities and increase membership. The accreditation also ensures we have the best coaches and sessions to develop player's skills".
After visiting the club to make the presentation Tennis Development Manager Jo-Anne Downing said,
"This is a fantastic achievement for Redruth Tennis Club who have clearly demonstrated that you don't necessarily need a 'big' club to complete the accreditation. Mark Hollow (chairman) and his committee have worked extremely hard to ensure that Redruth is operating at the highest standards and I am pleased to be able to recognise and reward these efforts. Since working through the accreditation process the club have identified further areas to expand on their progress and I wish them every success for the future".
