Cornwall’s youngest tennis team competed in the annual Inter-County Cup event against Devon, Somerset and the Channel Islands on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 June. The event, which was held at Coombe Dingle Tennis Centre in Bristol, brings together the leading talent in the South-West.
The team of Charlie Newman (Truro TC), Thanos Chrysanthanou (Truro TC) and James Harvey (Penzance TC) had a tough time competing in singles and doubles matches.
Despite some good tennis from the Cornish team, they failed to record a win in the competition.
Aside from the defeats, the weekend proved a success in other ways. The Cornish boys were able to see the standard they must look to aspire to, had a great time being in a “team” and as their matches were analysed by the team coach, the feedback they received meant that they learnt a lot from the weekend. Well done boys and congratulations on a great team effort.
