Following last week’s hard fought event held at Tunbridge Wells, our Men’s team became Division 7 Champions and secured Promotion to division 6.
Of special note, Chris Whittle and Chris Edge, playing at No 1, won 14 0ut of 15 rubbers and so narrowly missed out on becoming members of the elite 15/15 Club.
This is a superb achievement by our young team, led by Captain Chris Whittle. The last time that Cumbria gained promotion was in 1990 – five of the present team were not even born then!
It is also encouraging to note that our U18 Boys team also gained promotion earlier this year and this should help future success of Cumbria tennis.
