Ten year old Tommy Poli who trains at the Exmouth Tennis & Fitness Centre, concluded the winter tennis season by coming top of the 10 & Under LTA County Tour leaderboard. To celebrate his achievement he went to Milan, Italy for a short holiday.
"Tommy still had two tickets left from his Flybe Mini Masters prize from last year," explained his mum "so we decided to visit Italy over the Easter Holidays.
Whilst we were there I was able to arrange a visit to the famous Alberto Bonacossa Tennis Club in Milan which is Italy's first ever Tennis school, founded in 1937, and where some of Italy's top players train.
We were met by Head Coach, Gianfranco Tonello who has coached players such as Francesca Schiavone and he showed us around and then to Tommy's great surprise he asked Tommy if he would like to join in with a lesson"
Not only did Tommy join in with a lesson but he was then invited to return the next day to train with the 12 & Unders and the 14 & Unders.
A thrilling experience for Tommy who is now counting the days until his return to the prestigious centre in the May half term to train with the 10 & Under academy.
