The concluding match of this season ended in a defeat at home by 3 rubbers to 1 to last year's winners Cheshire.
Devon's first pair, Derek Shephard and Arthur Ackerley came close to winning against the Cheshire number one pairing but lost in a championship tie-break third set. Tom Eastop & Colin Holman had a bad start from which they could not recover and lost in straight sets to the Chshire second pair.
In the reverse singles however, Eastop and Holman hit their stride and took the rubber in straight sets but Shephard and Ackerley could not hold on to their form and lost by the same margin.
Final league positions hang on Cheshires tie with Lancashire. If Cheshire win then Devon will hold on to second place.
Having won 2 and lost 2 matches this season, the team are satisfied and have enjoyed a good summer of tennis.
