Last weekend saw many of Devon & Cornwall’s under 10 players and Team Flybe members compete in grade 3 Winter Regional Tours with great success.
Louis Davey qualified for a grade 2 National Tour. He beat Exeter’s Daniel Mountford in the final. Tommy Poli (Exmouth) came 4th.
Matt Rutter (Exeter) lost in the quarterfinals but has gained a wild card into the national event.
Emily Syms (Teignmouth) also won a Winter Regional Tour in Weymouth and qualified for the National Tour.
Sammy Broomhead qualified for the National Tour, defeating Ben Johnson (Exmouth) in the final
Holly Drew (Penzance) came 3rd in the Regional Tour but has qualified for the National tour too.
So this weekend, 21st/22nd December, we have 5 players competing in 4 of the National Tour events across the country.
Debbie Hale, Talent & Performance Co-ordinator for Devon & Cornwall, said, “Building on foundations laid last year and through this summer, it has been great to establish some consistency with players from Devon and Cornwall reaching the last 8 in Regional Tours and attending National Tours. Great to end this year on a high, well done everyone!”
