The squad of Sally Feeman (capt) Annie Ley, Jill Stone and Sue Roberts beat Leicester away 3-2 in a close match. Sally and Annie narrowly won their singles matches in third set 10 point match tie-breaks. Jill and Sue teamed up to play the doubles unfortunately losing both their doubles rubbers but Annie and Sally won theirs, again in a third set 10 point match tie-break.
With Sally Bassinger coming in for Annie the team travelled to Bristol for their match against Avon. Sally Freeman, playing at number 1 singles lost in 3 sets whilst Jill at number 2 had an easier time, winning in straight sets. Sue and Sally Bassinger won their first doubles but couldn’t hold on in their second match. In the second round doubles Sally Freeman and Jill won their match in straight sets giving Devon a 3-2 win again.
A great start for the team this season.
