In the Singles Rob Short made ‘short ‘ work of Geoff Forster whilst Lawrence Webster, who has had a great clay court season in Europe and is now ranked 35th in the World, struggled with his opposite number John Turner before going down in a close tie break in the first set before losing the second set 6-3.
Peter Henesey Smith and Phil Plummer managed to beat their opposite numbers Geoff Williams and John Duckworth in a close game, winning 10-8 in the match tie-break,
Short and Webster then teamed up in the doubles but lost 10-6 in the match tie-break. In the deciding rubber Henesey Smith and Plummer came back against Foster and Turner from 5-2 down in the match tie-break to win 8 points in a row to win the tie-break 10-5 and the rubber 3-2.
