Rackets on a fence

The team was without Peter Hennessey-Smith who was unfortunately out for the whole season and Lawrence Webster who battled injury throughout.  However Rob Short stepped up to the number 1 spot and the team battled hard with some really tight matches.

The season started with a home tie against Bedfordshire; a close match finally decided on two championship tie-breaks which unfortunately Devon lost going down 2-3.  A similar story followed in the match against Gloucestershire and also Middlessex where the doubles pair of Mike Cox and Mike Lewis went to 3 sets in both their doubles matches losing 6-10 and 11-13 in the 3rd set match tie-break.

Oxford and Hampshire & IOW proved too strong beating the Devon men 4-1,  Rob Short saving the day with fine singles wins at number 1.

Captain Mike Cox said, "Having lost all 5 matches we'll no doubt be relegated but had we been lucky enough to have won the the tie-breaks it may have been a different story.  There's always next year!"

Thanks to the team who took part this year:  Mike Cox (captain), Rob Short, Phil Plummer, Mike Lewis, Max Goodison, Lawrence Webster and Alistair Forbes.
