Their match against Sussex found the ladies Over 50s on court on another scorching hot day. Playing on hard courts in full sun left all of the ladies very appreciative of the changing rooms' air conditioning afterwards. Alas, in spite of everyone's best efforts the team lost 5-0 to a strong Sussex side.
Match of the day went to Lorraine and Caroline who kept their opposition out in the midday heat for ages trying desperately to exhaust them. Unluckily they lost in the end whilst everyone else watched comfortably from under the parasols on the balcony. Julie's singles match also was especially challenging against a lady who the previous day had been playing for England against Hungary and the day before that against France! This lady's amazing ball placement and outstanding drop shots left Julie's legs dropping off by the end of the match.
Lovely company, facilities and excellent refreshments after the match meant all enjoyed the day in particular the amusing anecdotes and tales told on the journey home stopping the driver and any passengers from nodding off!
