Pierce Widdecombe secured his place at the finals in Wimbledon by winning through the South West regional qualifying tournament for players rated 6.2 and better. The 2 day tournament at the East Glos Club in Gloucestershire saw players competing from all over the region but the final was contested between Pierce and Torquay's Joel Greatrex.
Pierce said, "I'm still waiting for it to sink in but it's amazing to get through and be able to play at Wimbledon".
