On the day that Andy Murray clinched his second Wimbledon Men's Singles title, Zac Brown and Hazel Vernon wrote their own little bit of history!
This May & June, clubs and schools across the County held their own HSBC Road to Wimbledon tournaments and the winners were invited to the County finals held at the South Devon Tennis Centre, Ivybridge on the 9th & 10th July.
13 girls and 16 boys took part and the event culminated in great finals between Zac (Exmouth Tennis & Fitness Centre) and Jayke Charlesworth (Ilfracombe TC) and Hazel (Virgin Active Devonshire) and Jessie Wiltshire (Sidmouth TC).
Zac follows in the footsteps of his elder sisters, Liberty and Isabella, who both qualified through to the finals at Wimbledon as 14U players.
Zac & Hazel will now be off to the famous grass courts at SW19 to play in the prestigious HSBC sponsored ‘Road to Wimbledon’ National Finals here the best 14U players across the UK will compete in a week-long tournament in August.
