Glorious sunshine, a light sea breeze and the wonderful venue of Torquay LTC – what more could the Devon Ladies over 50s team want for their first home match of the season v Dorset? Well a drop of Dutch courage would not have gone amiss when they realised that for this match Dorset had secured the services of two ladies who play for the Netherlands and GB! Their placement of the ball and reading of the game of tennis was fantastic. Despite excellent, competitive tennis and valiant efforts all round, the Devon team lost 5-0. Superb food including a wonderful homemade pavlova (thanks to Sue at Torquay LTC) made for a thoroughly enjoyable day.
