Team Flybe Players look forward to the summer season

The talent of Team Flybe players has been recognised by the awarding of LTA Matrix funding awarded to players in the top ranking percentile of their age group, following their sucess at high level tournaments and attendance at LTA Talent ID camps.

Talent Performance Co-ordinator Debbie Hale said, “It’s great to see our young players enjoying success following 3 years of hard work from them, their coaches and parents. The support of Flybe in providing these special opportunities has been an extremely valuable factor in their player development.  It is difficult for all involved in Devon & Cornwall as the distance to travel to play at a high level is much greater which is where Flybe’s assistance has been of huge benefit.

Our players’ success will hopefully be the start of turning the counties around and putting Devon and Cornwall in the mix on a national front.”

These players are just at the beginning of their tennis journey, with the achievement of their dreams still many years in the future but the support of the LTA Talent Id system allows these children to take the first steps along their journey.

The plans for the players this summer is to continue to train hard and develop their game with their coaches, using opportunities of big events within the counties and the region to practice ready for the winter season. The players will be playing some grade 2 national events in Bournemouth, Scotland and Buckinghamshire and TEAM Flybe Devon and Cornwall players will look to dominate in our regional grade 3 events.

We look forward to a good summer season programme with the players and Team Flybe trips.

Players selected for Team Flybe have to be in a comprehensive coaching programme and competing regionally or nationally which is a great commitment for them and their families. These players have attended county and regional/national LTA identification programmes and their competition results have put them in the top percentage of the country. The Team Flybe player receives a collective package of training camps, trips away and home matches against players from High Performance Centres around the Country to provide them with experience to support their player development.
