Saturday 8th November saw Exmouth Tennis & Fitness Centre running both red and orange events.
In the red (8U) Oliver Curran (Bovey Tracey TC/Exeter TC) had a great day winning all his 5 matches with Max Daniels (Tennismad at South Devon Tennis Centre) and Elliott Hawthorne (Exmouth Tennis & Fitness Centre) both on 4 wins out of 5. For 7 year old Oliver Fleming from Exmouth, this was his first tournament and organiser Myles Fletcher said that this friendly competition was a great way to learn about competing and meet players from other clubs. He was particularly impressed by the way players helped eachother out with keeping score when they weren't playing.
In the orange (9U) Will Stirling (Penzance TC) and Finley Hill (Exeter TC) both won all 4 of their matches with Nathan Lee (Exwick TC) taking 3 out of 4. Again it was great to see the attitude of these youngsters who were mixing in to warm up together and several stayed on after the competition to play some more.
The green (10U) event took place at Virgin Active Devonshire on Sunday 9th and produced some great matches. Racquets Manager Richard Stafford said, "There was some fantastic tennis played with Lucus Urquiza and Toby Watts the standout performers winning all of their matches. Lucus against Will Heard was one of, if not the, highest quality green ball matches I have ever seen. It was also nice to see the girls battle it out against the boys with Hazel Vernon in particular giving Toby a great challenge."
"All in all the event was great and I look forward to seeing them all back competing in the next one. Next weekend is going to be another great competition with 15 players in the Flybe red event. If it runs anywhere near as well as this weekend I will be delighted."
