The AEGON GB Pro-Series Barnstaple returns to the Tarka Tennis Centre this year as part of the Women's ITF Pro Circuit. The event, which takes place from 28 October-4 November, has previously attracted some of this country's finest tennis talent including Elena Baltacha, Anne Keothavong, Laura Robson and Heather Watson.
The AEGON GB Pro-Series Barnstaple is one of the most important tournaments in the UK after the grass court events at The Championships, Wimbledon, the AEGON International in Eastbourne and the AEGON Classic in Birmingham.With an informal and friendly atmosphere, it is a great place for fans of all ages to experience fast and exciting indoor hard court tennis.
In 2011, players from 14 nations came to North Devon to compete for the Dartington Vases and a share of the $75k prize money. Many of the players regularly compete on the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour, with last year's highest ranked player, Mona Barthel from Germany who is now ranked inside the world's top 40, having led the field.
Last year saw Britain's number two Keothavong dominate the tournament, winning her second Barnstaple title - she was victorious in 2008 - and first Barnstaple doubles crown with Czech partner Eva Birnerova .
