Jarvis Reaches National Tour Finals After Regional Win

Tuesday, February 18, 2014

Young Dorset star Timothy Jarvis rubbed shoulders with some of Britain’s top young players at the boy’s 10U Winter National Tour Finals at Easton College, Norwich, after winning at the Regional Tour Finals a week previously.

Jarvis claimed the Regional title and a place at the National Tour Finals after his victory at David Lloyd Southampton boy’s 10U Winter Regional Tour Finals event. He dropped just seven games in three matches on his way to the tournament victory.

Unfortunately for Jarvis, he was unable to maintain the winning run at the Nationals. In his first round he met eventual semi-finalist Felix Mischker from Middlesex, and despite putting up a stoic fight in the first set, he went down in straight sets 5-4(2), 4-1.

However, the West Hants player was able to show off some of his ability in the consolation event. Jarvis registered two wins and a defeat against some strong opposition as he finished third in his part of the consolation draw. He beat Durham’s Joel Woodward 4-1, 5-3 and Devon’s Matthew Rutter 4-2, 4-2 either side of a 5-3, 4-0 loss to Daniel Mountford, also from Devon.

Jarvis is back in action at the Salisbury Open in the boy’s 10U draw for which he is one of the top contenders for the title.
