Thursday, July 19, 2012

Dorset LTA are sad to announce the passing of Life Vice President, Betty Booth. Betty devoted many years of service to Dorset LTA and will be greatly missed by close friends and family, as well as the many people she supported with their tennis over the years.

Betty Booth was acknowledged for her years of voluntary work at the Dorset AGM last year, and was also presented with the LTA's Competition Organiser of the year Award at the O2 Masters in November 2011.

Betty was a key member of many tournament Committees, including the Bournemouth Open, Dorset Open and the Dorset County Closed. She was also a member of the Dorset Council and the Dorset Competitions Committee. Betty also supported tennis in the county by refereeing at many Dorset Club and County tournaments.

Her loss will be greatly felt by everyone involved with tennis in Dorset.

If you would like to pay your respects to Betty, the funeral will take place on Tuesday 24th July at Christchurch Priory at 12 O'Clock. This will be followed by the wake at Highcliffe Castle. All friends are welcome to attend.

The family have requested no flowers, however donations to cancer research via the following link will be most welcome. http://donateinmemory.cancerresearchuk.org/0002971
