Our Charity Fun Day held on Sunday 28 June 2015 had a wet start, but that did not deter those in the Adult and Child Tournament, even our youngest players competed through the brief rain shower. The event proved to be an overwhelming success, raising a club record breaking £1,000 (thanks to a donation of £8.50 to round the figure up) to be split equally towards club funds and The Children’s Trust Charity.
Members and visitors were able to test the speed of their serve and imagine themselves serving on Centre Court at Wimbledon with a prize awarded for the fastest. Even the coaches were tested in a Beat the Coach Competition and around the courts there were stalls with lots of other things to do.
Rachel Lambon, Head Coach, said “These events give members of all ages to meet existing and new friends, enjoy tennis and raise money for charity by taking part or helping behind the scenes. This year we exceeded expectations in the club’s donation to the Children’s Trust Charity. Our members are just fantastic ”
Christchurch Tennis Facility is a friendly local tennis club off Barrack Road in the Iford Sports Complex, providing opportunities for the community to improve their tennis skills as well as providing tennis courts for non-members who just want to turn up and play.
