Southbourne Tennis Club To Attempt Cardio Tennis Record

Friday, May 10, 2013

A Guiness World Record could be set as coaches, members and the public aim to go bigger and better than all others as they attempt to have the most participants involved in a single Cardio Tennis session.

Everyone at Southbourne Tennis Club are hoping to build on the success of the Cardio Tennis charity event they held in 2012. After setting a UK record of 75 participants at one time, the club are aiming to set a new record on Saturday 8th June 2013 as they attempt to beat last year’s total.

Southbourne TC will be evenly sharing the money raised at the event between two chosen causes; the Chernobyl Children Life Line and the club’s very own Disability Tennis fund.

The club’s work gives children in the Chernobyl area up to an extra two years of life expectancy, whilst Southbourne TC’s Disability Tennis fund helps disabled tennis players from the local community get involved in and regularly take part in the sport.

The event will take place on the courts of the club running from 10am until 11:30am. After the Cardio Tennis, the courts will be open to participants to try out the facilities. As the event will be outdoors, participants are asked to wear appropriate clothing and there is no need to panic if you don’t have a racket, the club can provide one for you.

There will be refreshments on offer from 10am and, weather permitting, a BBQ from midday at a small extra cost.

If you are new to tennis or just want to try something new, this event is a great way to get involved in the sport and to give Cardio Tennis a go.

The Southbourne TC coaches will be leading the event and all participants will be in safe hands as the coaches who will lead the session are fully qualified through the LTA as Cardio Tennis Instructors.

The Cardio session will have an entry fee of £5 for adults and £2 for children. All entry fees go to the Chernobyl Children Life Line and the Southbourne TC Disability Tennis Fund. The event is open to the public and all standards, ages and abilities are welcomed.
