Branksome Tennis Club serves up a treat for the Community

Back in March 2011 the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) and the Tennis Foundation announced that Branksome Tennis Club in Poole was to be awarded ‘Beacon’ status as part of the AEGON Parks Tennis programme in recognition of their high quality, affordable community tennis programmes.

The announcement was made following the clubs great efforts to deliver access to free and affordable tennis to the whole community and their commitment to do more to engage with new markets making the sport as accessible as possible.

Since the launch of the Beacon the club have seen an increase in recreational pay and play usage and an increase in the number of both adults and juniors in the coaching programme. The club offers a varied programme that caters for juniors and adults of any abilities so no excuses not to head down and get involved or check out the website for more information.

­­­­­­­­­The junior programme has seen an increase as well due to the busy summer programme of the fun and affordable summer programme.

Head Coach Jackie Bryer – Ash “Beacon Status has enabled us to promote our programme to the community and has challenged us to run more accessible activities than ever before, this has resulted in greater pay and play and an increase in local residents accessing the coaching programme.”

LTA Tennis Development Officer for the South West commented “How well the club have embraced their Beacon status and challenged themselves to deliver a more diverse programme to meet the needs of a broader range of the local population.”
