Boldon Lawn Tennis Club Head Coach wins Regional Coach of the Year Award.

Wednesday, June 22, 2016

Stephanie Eadon, who is the Head Tennis Coach at Boldon Lawn Tennis Club (BLTC), has won the Aegon British Tennis North Regional Coach of the Year Award 2016.

The regional judging team picked the South Tyneside based coach from a strong field of County winners including those coaching in Cheshire, Cumbria, Durham & Cleveland, Isle of Man, Lancashire, Northumberland and Yorkshire.

As a regional winner, Steph is now part of a national shortlist to be named the winner of the Coach Award at the Aegon British Tennis Awards. Should Steph be successful as a national winner, she will be invited by the LTA to attend the national ceremony in London in June 2016.

Steph was nominated by Durham and Cleveland LTA following her Coach of the Year accolade at their respective awards in September 2015.  The Level 4 coach has been a hugely positive figure in the area and has created and developed the Tennis Education Event which helps encourage new people to have a future in the game whether playing, volunteering or coaching.

Stephanie also works closely with Secondary Schools and provides Tennis Leader training to pupils as well as helping train staff so they are able to deliver tennis within the curriculum.

After winning the award, Stephanie said:  “I am very honoured and grateful to have been recognised for the hard work and commitment I have shown in the North East and to win this award is unbelievable.  I enjoy helping and watching each player learn and develop, whilst actively encouraging family’s to spend more time playing and enjoying the game together.”

Stephanie was presented with the trophy on Thursday April 28th at Sunderland Tennis Centre by Durham and Cleveland Lead Volunteer and LTA Councillor Anne Clayton.
