Girls Tennis Fever Hits Hampshire

Monday, April 11, 2011

Sixty girls between the age of ten and fourteen descended upon the Esporta Hampshire Tennis & Health Club this weekend.

The one day Girls Tennis Festival was put together to attract players to a mass participation, fun and action packed afternoon of tennis. Throughout the day, players took part in competitions, cardio tennis, coaching clinics, and team building games.

Simon Johnson, Tennis Development Manager said

"The aim of the day was to bring as many girls together in one place as possible. We wanted to hear from them, their coaches, and their parents about what they like and dislike about tennis in the area, and how we can improve their experience of our game"

Coaches from various Clubs helped facilitate the event with support from Winchester Tennis Club, Lee-on-Solent Tennis Club, Esporta. All players also received free promotional items as part of Hampshire & Isle of Wight's close working relationship with Babolat.

With the event now complete, attention will turn to ensuring that the feedback given on the day is put to good use and that all the girls benefit from the day longer term.
