Due to the success of the Hampshire & IOW Ladies Team gaining promotion to Division 1 Summer County Cup last year, we were very kindly invited by the AELTC to play a friendly match against their Ladies Team.
Therefore on a sunny 1st April 2012, the Team and numerous supporters travelled up to Wimbledon for a wonderful day out. We were greeted with Brunch, and then play commenced at 11, with 3 pairs playing doubles.
Our Team consisted of:
Lisa Radford and Harriet Jones (nee Piercy), Catherine O'Conner and Taz Keens, Debbie Hale and Hetty Knox
Included in the Wimbledon side was Anne Keothavong!
The Hampshire & IOW side played great tennis, and it should be noted that, Harriet and Lisa managed to win all 3 matches including beating Anne!!!! Taz and Catherine also managed to win one match against their 3rd pair.
The final day result was a close 5-4 to AELTC.
After play had finished the team and supporters were treated to a rather nice afternoon tea!!!
This was a great warm up for the Team's campaign for success at Eastbourne in the Summer.
