Winchester Young Volunteers Forum

On Sunday 14th April 2013 at Winchester Rackets and Fitness ten of the Region’s most promising young volunteers came together for a one day Forum run by the LTA. The 10 volunteers, aged 15-20 were identified by the County Teams and by their Clubs and invited along to learn more about opportunities in tennis including pathways in tennis within Education, Apprenticeships, Coaching, Club Management and Competition Organisation.

The Forum saw the 10 volunteers develop their skills on court with an opportunity to lead a session and set up and run their own touchtennis tournament followed by some work off court around personal development planning including a creative dragons den style pitch, the day ended with local coach Chris Hull delivering a Cardio Tennis session to showcase what a fantastic product Cardio Tennis is to attract and retain people in tennis.

"It was great to hear how much these guys are doing back at their Place to Play already and to hear of their plans for the future, tennis offers so much to so many people and with so much potential in the room I hope to hear more from these guys and girls for many years to come, our job now is to keep supporting them and building our offer of support around their needs and offer them the opportunities and skills required to become the future tennis workforce across GB." Andy Trott, LTA Tennis Development Officer.
