Hampshire & IOW men played a match v the all England club at Wimbledon on April 25. Only a few counties get this privilege and we gratefully accepted!
It is a 2 pair doubles match. Both pairs playing each other.
At no.1 we had Josh Girling and Karim Aouichaoui and at no.2 Paul Scullard and Miles Mcdowall.
The AELTC team are manly ex division 1 county players and it is always a very tough match but a good early test for our pairs ready for county week.
As the rain had flooded the courts outside the match was moved to the indoor courts.
We started off well winning the first set on both courts, but as with all Aeltc matches those quality players find a way back in and we end up in 3rd set championship tie breaks.
Josh and Karim won and Paul and miles lost, so all square at half time! In the second round AELTC rolled through both matches in straight sets showing their better understanding of doubles, leaving us losing 3 - 1.
A good match for our players getting the pairs together.
A lovely day for our supporters kindly catered for by the AELTC who we gratefully thank and a chance to test levels ready for county week.
