The Hampshire & IOW Awards were presented after the official AGM business on Thursday 8th December at Winchester Tennis and Squash Club.
A total of 70 people attended including Officials/Volunteers from Places to Play, Coaches, Players and Parents.
The Awards were presented by the Chairman, Peter Grinyer, to:-
Junior Players of the Year
Alex Gasson
Won both the 18 & Under and 16 & Under National Boys Doubles titles
Currently ranked number 1 in the country for 18 & Under boys
Miles McDowall
Great 12 months and was No 1 in the country for the 14 & Under age group earlier in the year and won the 14 & Under National Boys doubles title
Development Programme of the Year
David Lloyd Ringwood
This is in recognition of the fantastic 12 months which saw junior competition increase with the numbers of regularly competing juniors going from 4 – 100 and British Tennis Membership also increasing by over 100.
Performance Programme of the Year

This is in recognition of the fantastic programme which includes a high number of matrix players, support for access players, individualised fitness programmes with termly fitness assessments, tournament support at key events and well as having a highly experienced and dynamic coaching team.
Volunteers of the Year
John and Sue Hubbard – Alton
In recognition of your dedication and hard work at Alton Tennis and the achievement of developing the Club’s facilities and creating an enjoyable experience whilst at the Club.
Veterans Player of the Year

Great season – including winning the Men’s 45 singles British Open Vets Indoor Tennis Championships
Won the Men’s 45 Doubles of the South of England Veterans Championship and semi-finals of the singles
Runner-up in Men’s 45 singles Grass Court Championships
Quarter-Finals for the Singles & Doubles Open Veterans Clay Court Championships
Referee of the Year
Jenny Sayer
Refereed at numerous tournaments during the year around the County including Grade 3, 4, 5 and 6s
Education Award
Sarah Goldson
This is in recognition of your continued support of sport, specifically tennis, within the Education system and most recently your work with Queen Mary 6th Form College.

This is in recognition of their dedication and success of the Ladies AEGON Summer County Cup where they won 14 out of 15 rubbers and contributed to the County gaining promotion to Division 1 for the only the second time in the County’s history.
