Hampshire’s Esther Adeshina was crowned the winner at the recently concluded 14U Girls Invitational Winter National Tour Finals that was held at the National Tennis Centre Roehampton between 13-15th February 2015. The Grade 1 Finals event brings together the 16 most successful players across the country during the Winter season and these players battle it out at the Finals event to see who is crowned British Champion.
Esther lives in Totton , Southampton but travels daily to train at the West Hants HPC in Bournemouth and attends Talbot Heath School, which has a long history of tennis excellence.
Esther was the No. 1 seed for the event and comfortably won through her first two rounds of the 16 strong draw, defeating Avon's Hannah Davies 6-1 6-1 and Herfordshire's Indianna Spink 6-3 6-2 in the first round and quarterfinals respectively. She had a tough three-set battle against Surrey's Gemma Heath in the semi-finals but took the match 7-6(3) 1-6 6-2 . In the finals she met the No. 2 seed Victoria Allen from Derbyshire and defeated her 6-4 6-2 to confirm 13 year old Esther as 'best in class’ for the 14U age group.
Esther is on the Hampshire Talented Athlete Scheme and is excited about the win and looking forward to more success in the future.
